PYO Strawberries at Briarlands Farm

Our PYO Strawberries is now closed for the 2024 season!

When available, there is no booking required to go strawberry picking, you can just come along between the times stated on days when it is open. (please note: the book now button at the top of the page is for entry to the park – not strawberry picking)

Please call to check availability before making a special journey to pick strawberries as sometimes we may need to close if demand outweighs supply.
Sometimes we need to allow nature to do its thing and therefore we may need to close to allow the fruit to ripen.

With all growing products it is difficult to give an exact date to when the fruit will be ready.  We normally have ready picked strawberries available from around the middle of May, however, it is always best to give us a call on 01786 841309 to make sure we have some before making a special journey.  PYO will be available from around the beginning of June but again please call first.

Briarlands Strawberries are special. Grown in polytunnels on wires which are waist height, they are easy to pick. The advantages of this method are – no aching backs, no slugs or dirty berries and no need for spraying for mould (botrytis). Our strawberries can also be picked whatever the weather – a great advantage here in Scotland!

2024 Prices:
Ready picked punnets on sale in our shop : £4.25
PYO is £7.25 per Kilogram (£6.25 per kilo for 5Kg or more).  You just pay for all you pick!

Planting is carried out over a six week period and this ensures that there is a continual supply of large, juicy, sweet berries throughout the summer months. Strawberries are not only delicious freshly picked but can be used in many ways. Everyone likes strawberry jam but there are many more recipes to be found online!

Nutritional highlights

Strawberries are an excellent source of vitamins C and K as well as providing a good dose of fibre, folic acid, manganese and potassium.

They also contain significant amounts of phytonutrients and flavanoids which makes strawberries bright red. They have been used throughout history in a medicinal context to help with digestive ailments, teeth whitening and skin irritations.

Leaves can be eaten raw, cooked or used to make tea.
